The “r4”, hitting the right notesEveryone loves music, there’s no denying that and nowadays we have devices which enable us to enjoy music on the move. One of the only problems is that we also have gadgets like MP3 players, MP4 players, hand held games machines etc and we only have so many pockets to store these electronic gadgets. Have you ever thought how great it would be if you had one device which not only enabled you to play games, but also watch movies, browse through your photos and listen to your music collection? Well the good news is you can! And what’s even better is that if you are already the proud owner of a Nintendo DS, DS lite or DSI all you need is an “r4” adaptor to perform all this trickery! This simple little adaptor plugs into the machine’s existing cartridge slot and with the addition of an SD card you can begin feeding the relevant files through to the DS and you can listen to your favourite music until your heart’s content. ![]() Available through accredited online retailers they are surprisingly affordable and now of course you’ll have lots of spare space in your pockets for all your other paraphernalia! For those with a keen ear you’ll be more than impressed with the musical capabilities delivered via the “r4” to your games console, music has never sounded so good. The consumer demands perfection where all things electronic are concerned and rightly so, since man has had the ability to craft and play musical instruments we’ve been able to recognise what sounds good and indeed what’s not so good. Take the piano in all its guises for instance, anyone can ‘tinkle the old ivories’ but played correctly and it’s a joy to our ears and our senses! Think of the keys on the piano as the early equivalent of an “r4” adaptor, both are the tools which ultimately provide the sound and the better the quality, the better the sound. ![]() Likewise, failure to continually upgrade your games machine will result in a diminished performance and the same can certainly be said of a piano, leave it untuned for any length of time and no matter how fine a make it is, it will sound awful. But tuned twice a year by a specialist piano tuner and once again the piano will be restored to its former glory. The “r4” does the same for the Nintendo; it really does give this already excellent machine yet another ‘string to its bow’ and if you’re a fan of music you will certainly enjoy the glorious sounds it delivers. Plug in and play devices are a world far removed from playing a real piano of course, but all the same they both involve an in depth appreciation of music in all it’s finery and if perhaps you are indeed an accomplished pianist why not record your virtuoso performance onto a memory card, plug it into your “r4” then everyone can enjoy your playing skills!
